M1961 entrenching tool : Second Lieutenant N H Weekes, 1 Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment
Description
Folding US M1961 pattern entrenching tool with wooden helve, adjustable nut, and folding shovel and pick blades. The date, maker's name and the defence arrow are impressed into the front of the blade. Both blades display signs of heavy usage and the only sign of paint remains on the metal shaft rivetted to the helve, and on the adjusting nut. Not supplied with its carrier.

Related to the service of 1732646 Second Lieutenant Neil Harvey Weekes, who served in Vietnam with 1 Battalion, the Royal Australian Regiment (1 RAR) from 17 March to 10 December 1968.
